Academic Programs

Ventesburg Combined offers academic programs that supports learners from pre-school to Grade 12. Until 2017 the highest grade at the school was Grade 9 and the SGB of the school decided that the school should reintroduce Grade 10 in 2018.

Pre-School Phase

The pride of our school is the pre-school that prepares our learners for Grade 1. The school offers creche for learners whose parents may want their children to attend post pre-school at our school.

Foundation Phase

The phase caters for learners who are in Grades 1 to 3. The curriculum is presented in such a way that it supports learners during their formative years. English and Sesotho are offered as Home Language and First Additional Language, respectively.Other subjects include Numeracy and Life Skills.

Intermediate Phase

The number of subjects offered in Grades 4 to 6 increase to 6 from Foundation phase. The language policy changes at this phase as Sesotho is taken as Home Language and English as First Additional Language. Additional sujects taken are Life Skills, Mathematics, Natural Science & Technology and Social Sciences.

Senior Phase

Grade 7 is the last grade in primary school education. Grade 8 and 9 are the beginning grades for high school. Learners take 9 subjects: Creative Arts, EMS, English (FAL), Life Orientation, Mathematics, Natural Science, Sesotho(HL), Social Science and Technology. Children are gradually introduced to high school life during this phase.

Further Education and Training Phase

2018 saw the re-introduction of Grade 10 at our school. The plan was to have the first Grade 12 class in 2020. Subjects offered at our school at Grade 10 generally fall into two general categories, namely Science (Accounting/Geography, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physical Sciences) and Commerce (Accounting/Tourism, Business Studies/Geography, Economics, Maths/Maths Lit). All learners take Languages (Sesotho & English) and LO.
